  4.     ExpenseIt!, recently released by On The Go Software, is an easy
  5. to use utility program designed specifically for tracking business
  6. travel expenses and producing expense reports.  The program goes
  7. beyond simply listing and summarizing expenses by category.
  8. Expenses may also be matched to a specific project, client, or
  9. purpose.
  10.     
  11.     These features make the program versatile enough to be used by
  12. both corporate and self-employed travelers.  Other useful features
  13. include: foreign currency conversion capability, mileage expense
  14. tracking and expense reimbursement and billing capabilities.  The
  15. program comes with eight pre-defined expense categories that meet
  16. the IRS' expense reporting guidelines.  Users may modify these and
  17. add up to 16 more categories.  Categories may also be linked to
  18. corporate general ledger account numbers.

  20.     To initially set up the program, users define expense and
  21. payment categories.  If desired, project names, client lists, and
  22. even travel destinations may also be pre-defined.  Data entry is
  23. straightforward and typing is minimized by the use of pop-up menus
  24. containing the pre-defined categories and lists.  Receipts may be
  25. entered in any order and are then organized by ExpenseIt!  according
  26. to the user's preferences.

  28.     This program has a variety of report options both for submitting
  29. expense reports and for tracking expenses and reimbursement.  The
  30. program comes with eight portfolio or landscape pre-formatted
  31. expense reports that should meet most users' needs.  For an
  32. additional fee, On The Go will develop a template matching a company
  33. expense report, or users can purchase ExpenseIt!  For Windows Report
  34. Writer and develop their own template.  Reports to track expenses
  35. include a billing feature that allows expenses to be summarized by
  36. client.  An itinerary feature allows expenses to be reported by
  37. business trip.  Expenses can also be reported by year, quarter or
  38. month.

  40.     A weakness of the program is in the handling of cash advances
  41. and reimbursements.  While    expenses may be associated with clients
  42. and projects, cash advances and reimbursements are associated only
  43. with the time period of the trip through the itinerary feature.
  44. Users expecting reimbursement from more than one source may find
  45. this irritating.  Another area of weakness is in the documentation
  46. which tends to be scanty.  Overall, business travelers will find
  47. ExpenseIt!  a useful, easy to use, and best of all relatively
  48. inexpensive program.  Don't leave home without it!
